ShiftPilot Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 5, 2026 Last updated: August 5, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how the ShiftPilot iOS application ("ShiftPilot", "the app", "we", "us") handles your information. ShiftPilot is operated by Vasile Piciriga, an independent app developer.

The short version: ShiftPilot is a local-first app. Your data lives on your device. We do not run servers that receive your data, we do not require an account, and we do not collect, sell, or share your personal information.

1. Data You Create in the App

ShiftPilot lets you record work-related information such as employers, shifts, shift templates, hourly rates, pay supplements, and payment records. All of this data is stored locally on your device in an on-device database (Apple SwiftData). It is never transmitted to us. We have no technical ability to access it.

2. No Accounts, No Registration

ShiftPilot does not have user accounts. You are never asked to register, sign in, or provide an email address, phone number, or name to use the app.

3. Optional iCloud Sync (Pro Feature)

If you subscribe to ShiftPilot Pro and enable iCloud sync, your app data is synchronized between your own devices through your personal iCloud account, using Apple's CloudKit private database.

4. On-Device Schedule Scanning (OCR)

ShiftPilot can read a photo of a printed work schedule and turn it into shifts. This text recognition runs entirely on your device using Apple's Vision framework. Images are processed locally and are never uploaded to us or to any third party. ShiftPilot only accesses the camera or your photo library when you actively use the scanning feature, and only with your permission.

5. Device Permissions

ShiftPilot requests system permissions only for specific features, only when you use them, and works without them (with the related feature disabled):

Permission Used for Data leaves the device?
Camera Photographing a schedule for on-device OCR No
Photo library Selecting an existing schedule image for on-device OCR No
Calendar Exporting/showing your shifts in your calendar, if you enable it No (calendar entries stay in your calendar account)
Notifications Local reminders for shifts and paydays No (notifications are scheduled locally)

You can revoke any permission at any time in iOS Settings.

6. No Ads, No Tracking, No Third-Party SDKs

7. Analytics

ShiftPilot version 1 sends no analytics events anywhere. The app contains an internal, opt-in analytics abstraction as a technical preparation for possible future, privacy-preserving product analytics; in version 1 it is inert and transmits nothing. If we ever activate analytics in a future version, it will be strictly opt-in, this policy will be updated first, and the app's App Store privacy label will be updated accordingly.

8. Purchases

Subscriptions and the one-time Lifetime purchase are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store (StoreKit). We do not receive your name, payment details, or billing address. Apple provides us only with anonymized transaction information necessary to unlock the features you purchased. Apple's handling of purchase data is described in Apple's privacy policy.

9. Data Sharing and Selling

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal data with anyone. We have no data to sell: your app data never reaches us.

10. Data Retention and Deletion

Because your data is stored on your device (and optionally in your own iCloud account), you control retention and deletion:

We hold no copies.

11. Children

ShiftPilot is a work-scheduling utility rated 4+. It is not directed at children, collects no data from anyone, and contains no ads or external links to unmoderated content.

12. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA and Similar Laws)

Under laws such as the EU/UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act, you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Because ShiftPilot's developer does not collect or process your personal data on any server, there is normally no personal data held by us on which to exercise those rights — your data is under your direct control on your device and in your iCloud account. If you believe we hold personal data about you (for example, from a support email you sent us), contact us at picirigavasile@icloud.com and we will respond within the legally required time.

13. Security

Your data is protected by iOS's built-in protections, including device encryption and app sandboxing. iCloud-synced data is protected by Apple's iCloud security (encryption in transit and at rest). No method of storage is 100% secure, but keeping data on-device and out of our hands removes the most common risks of server breaches.

14. Changes to This Policy

If we change this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide notice inside the app before the change takes effect.
